The Oxford Princeton Programme Announces Addition of Two Technical Analysis Courses to Calgary Energy Education Schedule (Autumn 2007)

PRINCETON, NJ - July, 2007: The Oxford Princeton Programme, the world's leading provider of training solutions to the energy, commodities and derivatives industries, is pleased to address demand in the Canadian energy sector with the inclusion of:

  • Fundamentals of Technical Analysis
    • September 6-7, 2007

  • Advanced Technical Analysis:
    • September 4, 2007
Both courses are to be held at a convenient Downtown Calgary location to be announced shortly, and will be led by Larry Lawrence, President of Enterprise Risk Consulting, LLC, and a highly-regarded expert and educator with close to 20 years of experience in energy risk management and trading (full biography available on www.oxfordprinceton.com).

"The courses are designed to demystify common technical indicators and make them work for hedgers and speculators," says Jobert Abueva, Global Marketing Director, The Oxford Princeton Programme. "Professionals of varying levels of experience and expertise will benefit from our multidimensional learning approach which combines lecture and trading simulations."

  • Fundamentals of Technical Analysis
The two day workshop provides the fundamentals of technical analysis technique. Delegates will learn about all common indicators, how to use them, and how to make technical indicators enhance the quality of trading. In addition, the course includes a trading simulation where delegates will be making trades based on common technical indicators. By course end, delegates should understand, amongst other things, the real definition of technical analysis, using technical analysis for trading discipline and managing risk how to analyze and use volume and open interest, how to combine indicators and approaches, and hedging and speculating with technical analysis.

All energy professionals are encouraged to attend; in particular those involved in trade staff support, quantitative analysis, programmers, marketing/sales, traders to senior management, and individuals who want to advance their futures trading skills or understand the techniques of major market players.

  • Advanced Technical Analysis
Through the presentation of advanced material and a series of interactive workshops, delegates will learn how, as market participants, to apply theories of technical analysis to various trading timeframes, in this engaging one day workshop. Timeframes covered include day trading, swing trading, and position trading. Day trading and swing trading are covered through a study of 5, 30, and 60 minute and daily charts, while position trading is examined through daily, weekly, and monthly charts. Upon completions, delegates should have a clear understanding of successful technical trading styles, the theoretical and statistical basis for technical analysis, advanced indicators, money management and risk-based position sizing, and developing a technical trading system.

Fundamentals of Technical Analysis (TA) or equivalent experience is a prerequisite for this course. All energy professionals are invited to attend, including those interested in price forecasting techniques and price risk management using technical analysis.

Please note: a laptop (CD-ROM drive) and up-to-date version of Excel software is required for this course in order to participate in the trade simulation.

Each course offers a certificate upon successful completion and seats are limited to ensure proper in-depth coverage. For those with widespread company interest, both courses may also be scheduled as on-site seminars.
