The Oxford Princeton Programme Announces Public Courses for 2007 Dedicated
to the Asian Energy Sector To Be Held in Singapore
PRINCETON, NJ - January, 2007:
The Oxford Princeton Programme, Inc., the world's leading provider of training
solutions to the energy, commodities and derivatives industries, announces a
series of 17 courses in 2007 to meet the growing demand for a cutting-edge
Singapore-based curriculum that gives delegates a competitive edge in the
marketplace.
The Oxford Princeton Programme Singapore Private Ltd, located at 7 Temasek
Boulevard, Suntec City Tower One, #06-01, will officially open this February.
While the office will serve as an operational hub, public courses will be held
in convenient downtown venues to cater to professionals across a variety of
functions and levels of experience.
"The Oxford Princeton Programme recognizes the importance of meeting
customers' need for accessible, multidimensional learning they can put to
immediate use," says Jobert Abueva, Global Marketing Manager. "To best
service this demand, we have compiled courses that strengthen core competencies,
across a wide array of energy-related topics of significant interest to the
region."
The following are confirmed to come to Singapore during first half of 2007:
- Overview of Physical Crude Oil Trading and Operations,
12-13 February 2007
This workshop offers delegates an in-depth introduction on how the physical
crude oil trading market works. Besides invaluable exposure to terminology, each
delegate will experience all the steps in typical domestic and foreign crude oil
transactions. The linkage between new well production, marketing, transportation
and storage, and refining to physical trading (both speculatively and as a hedge
vehicle) will be explored. Delegates are awarded 16 CPE credits for this course.
- Fundamentals of Petroleum Refining - A Non-Technical Introduction,
14-15 February 2007
This two-day workshop introduces the fundamentals of petroleum refining and was
designed to introduce non-technical oil industry members to the fascinating
field of petroleum refining. It will delve into refinery operations and how they
affect global oil and product prices. Delegates are awarded 16 CPE credits for
this course.
- Refinery and Supply Economics,
23-27 April 2007
Presented in association with Shell Global Solutions, this course covers a wide
array of topics relevant to refinery and supply economics. Participants will
understand basic knowledge of tools, as well as techniques and working
methodology used by refinery economists both for short term and long term
(investment) evaluations. Economic principles applicable to refinery operations
will also be discussed.
- Principles of International Oil Trading,
9-12 May 2007
This course spans from the basic principles of international oil trading to a
discussion on the allied fields of supply, transportation and refining. Using
case studies to analyze commercial driving forces, delegates will address
day-to-day concerns. Crude valuation, ocean tanker transport and freight are
explored together with a basic overview of terminals and pipelines.
Additionally, during the week, delegates are given the opportunity to trade in
the current market via a simulation of live trading.
Delegates are awarded 8 CPE credits for this course.
- International Oil Trading - Advanced Techniques and Strategic Price Risk Management,
16 May 2007
This course covers trading techniques applicable to the management of
international oil trading price risk. Through a variety of case studies,
delegates will learn the concepts and review standard day-to-day issues.
Participants will develop and manage trading strategies to maximise corporate
profitability and reduce exposure to losses.
Delegates are awarded 24 CPE credits for this course.
- International Oil Trading - A Practical Approach to the Legal Issues for Successful Management of Claims and Disputes,
16-18 May 2007
Disputes often arise involving international shipping and trading contracts.
Using a mixture of current practice, supported by legal interpretation and
precedent, delegates will learn to avoid many of the pitfalls that may occur.
Real case studies and exercises will provide hands-on experience to enable
delegates to draft, interpret and operate oil trading contracts to minimise the
risk of dispute.
- Energy Risk Management,
18-19 June 2007
Limitation of price risk exposure is a difficult concept. Imagine if one is able
to maximize hedging efficiencies and limit price risk. In this two-day workshop,
delegates create a portfolio of industry techniques and apply them to four
unique case studies developed by leading risk managers. This programme covers
various energy commodities, including oil and gas and also provides an in-depth
understanding of hedging. Delegates are awarded 16 CPE Credits.
- Fundamentals of Technical Analysis,
20-21 June 2007
Understanding and using technical analysis is important to hedgers as well as
speculators. This workshop will take the mystery out of common technical
indicators. Participants will learn what they are and how the experts use them.
A trading simulation involves decisions based on technical indicators.
Delegates are awarded 16 CPE credits for this course.
Other courses slated for 2007 in Singapore and will be introduced in detail at
a later date, include:
