...and take some well-deserved time off to enjoy your summer (or winter as the case may be) holidays, I have a favour to ask of you. Do take time to choose a training course with us that will complement your recharged frame of mind upon your return.

It is no secret that 'sharpening the saw,' taking a vacation, seeking a change of pace and space, whatever you want to call it, does wonders for one's mental being. It is also a given that taking a refresher class, learning new things, enhancing personal and professional development, does wonders too, including in one's career.

Ours is the broadest of any commercial curriculum relating to energy, commodities and derivatives. And we have a full late summer and autumn schedule for you to consider. Again, all I ask is that you choose one, just one course. And do let me know how it went. Okay, you can tell me where you spent your holidays as well.

Want a suggestion? My colleagues and I have plenty. Just give us a call or send an e-mail.

And to get you started, you can click onto our booklet that indicates the newest courses and most up-to-date schedule.

What can delegates look forward to in your course?

As well as the factual subject matter they will have the opportunity for open discussion with top international experts who are working on projects around the world to better understand the up-to-date problems and issues for the global LNG industry.

How do you like to present your subject matter?

There is a conscious decision to make the courses as interactive as possible with varied delivery styles, complimented by real case studies and group exercises, and supported by anecdotal examples from the lecturers consulting activities to reinforce key messages.

What are your career/professional highlights?

A very difficult question to respond to as my career has covered both power and natural gas and encompassed a variety of challenging roles ranging from engineering to strategy in such varied geographies as southern Africa, India, Western and Central Europe, and lately in Asia. I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to experience working with many cultures.

What are some of the greatest challenges facing the energy sector?

For me there are three prime challenges - climate change mitigation, security of energy supply and technological revolution (I use this term explicitly as we no longer have time for just change). For the energy industry to deliver its potential for the future all three must work together as they are mutually dependent.

How do you like to spend your free time?

Well, I am a freshwater angler and spend many hours by rivers and lakes enjoying nature and sometimes catching fish. Also, my wife and I are fortunate to have a place in Tuscany, not far from Florence, where we try to spend as much time as possible enjoying the weather, the people and the superb Italian food and wines.
