The Oxford Princeton Programme is proud to present our highly-acclaimed course, International Oil Supply, Transportation, Refining and Trading (AKA SP1), which observes its 25th year in 2008. This landmark course led by Course Director Robin Burley became an instant hit with petroleum industry participants who sought a comprehensive overview that followed the flow of oil throughout the entire supply chain in a relevant and thoughtful manner. It would be fair to say that past delegates include a Who's Who in the sector. Course material has been constantly updated to address changes that the industry has undergone throughout the decades.

As in years past, we expect this course to fill up fast so don't delay and do commemorate this milestone with us.

Coming to a continent near you, this two-day course provides delegates with a comprehensive overview of energy derivatives instruments and markets as well as an introduction to current best practices in pricing, risk management and hedging. The course is highly interactive and delegate participation and discussion are encouraged. Numerous case studies are presented throughout the course, with particular emphasis on the applications of the concepts presented in the lectures. Also, a variety of tools will be applied in several group exercises to hedge and control market exposures.

Individuals in front, middle and back office personnel will gain better understanding, as well as anyone involved in working with energy derivatives (electricity, gas, coal, oil). The course is led by Dr. Carlos Blanco who will also be delivering TPD to Latin America.

The year-end price for a barrel of light crude oil as reported on NYMEX was $95.98. Many of you guess-hedged a tad lower (though few were quite bullish!). Thank you to all of you who entered our contest. The one who came closest was Luis Olguí (of Refineria La Pampilla S.A) at $95.87 and is the winner of a TOPP limited edition iPod shuffle. Congratulations Luis!
This three-day course provides a fundamental understanding of petrochemical economics and the feedstock/price inter-relationships affecting market competitiveness. It will analyse the fundamentals of competitiveness in producing base chemicals and how these will affect business decisions, process and feedstock selection. Participants will analyse production and supply costs which will highlight the price determining mechanisms and opportunities for profits in the industry. The course is not aimed at existing experts but instead, serves as an introduction to more specialised courses.

TOPP looks forward to meeting with several industry participants throughout 2008 as we embark on our trade show and conference schedule. Stay tuned for where we'll be next.
Mr. Jim Crosskey, Principal Sales Executive out of our Oxford, UK office will represent The Oxford Princeton Programme at Integrated Reservoir Management & Optimised Production 2008 to be held 24-25 January in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The forum offers participants a view to the oil filed of the future with leading operator representatives and solution providers in attendance.

If you are attending and would like to meet Mr. Crosskey to learn more about our wide-array of oil industry training options, please click here.
We are bringing back course director Roger Hutchenson in time for his highly-anticipated Gasoline and Diesel Fuel Technology (GDT1) course come March. He shares updates that will benefit delegates.
We will be in Messe Essen, Germany on 19-21 February 2008 attending the E-World conference, a comprehensive and, above all, qualitatively sophisticated communication platform on the topic of energy & water.

If you are attending and would like to meet with our representatives, please click here.
What can delegates look forward to in your courses?

In our standard courses (Gasoline and Diesel Fuel Technology), delegates will gain a thorough understanding of the way the fuels are refined and blended, the importance of specifications and how they have evolved, the challenge of biofuels and other alternatives, vehicle and emissions control developments and how these interface with fuels. We also include sessions on additives and delegates will participate in a blending study exercise. The subject matter is technical but we strive to present the material in a way that delegates with little or no scientific background can understand (and enjoy!) Gasoline and diesel fuel are probably the two most important products for many people in the oil industry - what we hope delegates will recognize is that these "commodity" products can be marketed successfully and profitably.

How do you like to present your subject matter?

All of the lecturing team prefer an informal approach, with delegates asking questions at any time during a presentation. We try to inject a bit of humour and we much prefer interaction with the delegates - as far as I'm concerned, there is nothing worse than ending a presentation without a single question being asked.

What are your career/professional highlights?

Having my further education sponsored by Shell. Improving gasoline profitability for Shell in the UK by the practical application of Shell gasoline research, backed up by a major market research effort. Guiding Shell's international diesel fuel development programme at a time when the industry had neglected the product for a very long time. Being involved in cooperative development programmes with many of the major motor manufacturers and being seconded to CONCAWE, the oil industry's European downstream organization for environment, health and safety. However, the real highlights are all the friends I have been fortunate to know in the oil and motor industries, plus being able to retire at 53!

How do you like to spend your free time?

What free time?

Roger's forthcoming course is:
