General

  1. Can you tell me more about the hotels where the courses are held?
  2. The Oxford Princeton Programme holds its courses at The Oxford Spires Four Pillars Hotel, The Oxford Thames Four Pillars Hotel and The Paramount Oxford Hotel. Visit each hotels website for detailed information.

    To find which hotel your course is being held at, go to the course summary on our website. Under Course Fees and Dates at the bottom of the page, click on the "venue" button next to your course date.

  3. What is the difference between the locations?
  4. The Oxford Spires is located approximately one mile from the city centre, and is an easy walk or short taxi journey into the centre.

    The Oxford Thames hotel is located approximately five miles from the city centre and is a short taxi journey into the centre. The Thames is located on the banks of the river and has lovely canal walks and is in easy walking distance to local village pubs. Given its location we recommend that you take advantage of the accommodation package with your course as there are few hotels in that area.

    The Paramount Oxford Hotel is located just two miles from the city centre and is a short taxi journey into the centre. By car or public transport it is within easy reach of Blenheim Palace, the town of Woodstock, and the Cotswolds.

  7. What should I bring with me on my trip?
  8. When packing for your trip, we would suggest that you include:

    • Comfortable walking shoes (for the walking tour)
    • Waterproof jacket/coat (depending on weather)
    • Umbrella
    • Plug adapter for electrical items

  9. Will I have access to the Internet during my trip?
  10. To access the Internet from your room, you will require a laptop. Connection charges are the same as the hotel's telephone rates. Each of the hotels has wireless access (chargeable) and an internet station (chargeable). Otherwise, you may use any Internet café in Oxford City Centre - your course administrator will be able to provide you with a list.

  11. Why is there a pre-course questionnaire?
  12. If you are supplied with a pre-course questionnaire, this is to determine the level of experience and skills of the individual participant, and to aid the course director in assigning evenly balanced syndicate groups.

  13. Can you meet specific dietary needs?
  14. Absolutely. We will endeavour to fulfill your dietary requirements so long as you let us and the hotel know what these are. Just fill out the form and fax it to the hotel with all your requests.

Payment and Visa Information

  1. What forms of payment do you accept?
  2. We accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express credit cards. We also accept cheques and wire transfers. If you are paying by cheque, instruct your bankers to use a STERLING cheque/draft drawn on a UK bank or a London branch of an overseas bank. Please note, payments in other currencies cannot be accepted.

  5. What are the visa requirements for the UK?
  6. Members of the EU are automatically granted entrance into the UK. There are also a number of other countries for whom visas are not required. To ascertain if you require a visa, please use the link provided to check.

  7. Can I receive a credit for the VAT charge?
  8. If you are a non-resident of the UK, you can apply to receive a credit for this charge after payment. Visit the HM Revenue and Customs website for details.

    Please note, we recommend you choose the accommodation package as there are social events that take place in the evenings of the course.

  3. Can my spouse stay at the hotel with me?
  4. If you choose our accommodation package, you will receive a discounted rate for your spouse (Rates: £40 dinner, bed and breakfast and £25 bed and breakfast). Please contact the hotel if your spouse needs accommodations.

  5. Can I book extra days onto my hotel reservation?
  6. Yes. We will provide you with an accommodation form where you can select your room type and the number of nights you wish to stay, provided the hotel have availability*. Once complete, you can send the form to the hotel.

    * However the accommodation package offered by The Oxford Princeton Programme for the course duration cannot be changed.

  7. Where do I stay if I don't choose the accommodation package?
  8. The Oxford Princeton Programme cannot book accommodation for you. You may call the hotel where the course is being held or a local hotel or guest house. We have put together a list of hotels and sample room rates for your convenience.

      • By Car
        Oxford Spires map
        From the North, leave the M40 at junction 9, taking the A34 at the 3rd exit, signposted for South Hinksey (London M40) and follow towards the City Centre. At the next roundabout, take the first exit still following for the City Centre, onto Abingdon Road. The hotel can be found approximately one mile on the right.

        From the South, leave the M4 at junction 13, taking the A34 north towards Oxford, leave at exit signposted for M40/A423/A4144 144, following for the City Centre. At the next roundabout, take the first exit, still following for the City Centre onto Abingdon Road. The hotel can be found approximately one mile on the right.

      • By Train
        The closest rail link is Oxford Rail Station, 1.5 miles away from the hotel. If arriving at Oxford Station you will need to take a taxi to the hotel. To request a suitable timetable/fare for the trains, please call the enquiry line on +44 (0)845-7484950 or www.thetrainline.com.

        Take the Heathrow to Oxford express coach service. This coach journey will end at the Gloucester Green Coach Station in Oxford City Centre. From the Gloucester Green Coach Station, take a cab to the Oxford Spires.

        Arriving into Gatwick Airport
        Take the Gatwick to Oxford express coach service. This coach journey will end at the Gloucester Green Coach Station in Oxford City Centre. From the Gloucester Green Coach Station, take a cab to the Oxford Spires.

        From London M40 junction 8, A40 Oxford, at Roundabout (Headington), 1st exit left Ring Road A40 to Cowley, road becomes A4142. Carry on past BMW works, over flyover, next roundabout with lights take exit (left) signposted Littlemore. Road is called Oxford Road, stay on this road for 1 mile, the Hotel is on the right.

        From North M40 junction 9, A34 towards Oxford, take M40/A423/A4074 exit, keep left at roundabout and follow A4074 to Sandford, at the end of slip road, follow signs on roundabout to Sandford, at junction (Henley Road) take a right, the Hotel is another ˝ a mile on the left.

      • By Train

        Take the Heathrow to Oxford express coach service. This coach journey will end at the Gloucester Green Coach Station in Oxford City Centre. From the Gloucester Green Coach Station, take a cab to the Oxford Thames.

        Take the Gatwick to Oxford express coach service. This coach journey will end at the Gloucester Green Coach Station in Oxford City Centre. From the Gloucester Green Coach Station, take a cab to the Oxford Thames.

        From the North, leave the M40 at junction 9, take the A34 following the signs for Oxford. At the Peartree interchange, take the A44 to Cheltenham. Following the signs for the A40, you will find the hotel at the next roundabout, the Wolvercote roundabout. Take the 4th exit from the Wolvercote roundabout and the entrance to the hotel drive is on your right.

        From London, take Junction 8 off the M40, following the A40 to Oxford. At the first roundabout, the Headington roundabout, take the third exit signed Ring Road North, A40, The West and Cheltenham. At the next roundabout, the Cutteslowe roundabout, go straight over, following the signs for the A40 Cheltenham and Evesham. At the 3rd roundabout, Wolvercote roundabout, take the 2nd exit signed to Wolvercote and turn right into the hotel drive.

        From Henley, on the A423 at the first roundabout (Sainsbury's), turn left. Take left exit at next roundabout. At the next roundabout take a right onto the A34, following the signs for A34 Northbound. Follow the A34 until you come to the Peartree interchange (also signposted for Blenheim Palace), follow the signs for A44 to Oxford City Centre. When you come to the next roundabout, the Wolvercote roundabout, take the 4th exit and the hotel entrance drive is situated on the right hand side.

        From Swindon/Bristol on the A420, at the first major roundabout, take a left onto the A34. Follow the signs for Oxford onto the A44. At the Peartree interchange, take the A44 to Oxford. The hotel is situated on the 4th exit at the next roundabout, the Wolvercote roundabout.

  5. As part of your course we organise social events to enhance your experience, which you are welcome to attend:

    • Walking tour - this normally takes about 90 minutes and the guide is very well informed and gives a "behind the scenes" look at Oxford and its cultural history.

    • Course dinner - this will take place in an Oxford Restaurant for the group and lecturers to socialise and network.
