Gas is essential to carbon-conscious society: Exxon executive
Natural gas will be an important part of the global energy mix as concerns about carbon emissions continue to mount, ExxonMobil executive Tim Walters said this week.
In an interview with NASDAQ, Walters - ExxonMobil's president of gas and power marketing - indicated that gas' value as a low-cost power source will contribute to its uptake, too.
And, he said, unconventional sources like those making waves in the U.S. could contribute immensely to the world's supply of gas. But unconventional gas is still in its infancy, he cautioned, saying that ExxonMobil is "still trying to figure out the quality of that resource."
